Report: Orioles, Cardinals among clubs considering catcher Kurt Suzuki
The Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals are among teams interested in trading for Minnesota Twins' veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki, according to a report from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
Both the Orioles and Cardinals are looking for fixes at the catcher position after losing starters to injury.
Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is expected to be out until September, if not later, due to a thumb injury. Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery in June.
Although Suzuki is hitting .308 and made the All-Star team, the catcher will be a free agent after this season. Contract discussions between Suzuki and the Twins reportedly did not get off the ground.
