The Cleveland Indians have released outfielder Nyjer Morgan, the club announced Tuesday. Morgan hadn't played since May because of a right knee sprain.
Morgan hit .341 with a .429 on-base percentage in 54 plate appearances this season. He spent the 2013 season with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan. Morgan last played in the majors in 2012 with the Milwaukee Brewers, when he hit .239 and stole 12 bases.

Morgan injured his knee in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays, and was placed on the 60-day DL.
