Yankees place catcher Brian McCann on seven-day concussion list
The Yankees have placed catcher Brian McCann on the seven-day concussion list after he was hit in the face mask with a foul ball in Friday night's win over the Indians, the team announced before Saturday's game.
McCann suffered a mild concussion, according to the team.
The 30-year-old, who signed a five-year, $85 million deal with the Yankees in the offseason is hitting .238 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs in 103 games this season. The seven-time All-Star in nine seasons with the Braves will be replaced in the Yankees' lineup by Francisco Cervelli and Austin Romine, who was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move.
The Yankees enter play on Saturday at 61-54, five games behind the Orioles in the AL East and a half-game behind the Royals for the second Wild Card.
