Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will miss the rest of the season after he undergoes hip surgery on Friday in Vail, Colorado, according to a report Wednesday night from Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.
The 29-year-old, four-time All-Star will undergo labral repair surgery, less than a week after he had taken batting practice before a game against the Cubs. It had been the first time he had done anything baseball related since landing on the disabled list on July 22.

At the time of his injury, Tulowitzki was leading the majors in on-base percentage (.432) and was second in batting average (.340) and slugging percentage (.603). His 21 homers also led all shortstops.
The Rockies are fifth in the NL West heading into Thursday night's game at home against the Reds.
