Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso has been ruled out for the season with a damaged forearm tendon, according to a tweet from Jeff Sanders of U-T San Diego.
The 27-year-old will get a second opinion, but surgery is an option according to Sanders. The news comes just days after he was moved to the 15-day disabled list because of a strained forearm. He was batting .240 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 84 games.
The Padres are third in the NL West heading into Sunday's series finale on the road against the Cardinals.
