Pittsburgh Pirates' Andrew McCutchen activated from 15-day DL
The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the 15-day disabled list on the first day he was eligible, the team announced Tuesday.

McCutchen was placed on the 15-day DL on Aug. 11, retroactive to Aug. 4, with a rib injury.

The outfielder last played on Aug. 3, when he was forced to exit a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after experiencing discomfort in his left side.
The reigning National League MVP, McCutchen was hitting .311 with a .947 OPS and 17 home runs before the injury.
The Pirates entered Tuesday at 64-61, 2 games behind the San Francisco Giants for the second NL Wild Card.
