Cincinnati Reds general Walt Jocketty is expected to return to the team next season, reports Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

With the job of Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers in jeopardy due to the team's poor season, some had suggested that new Diamondbacks chief baseball officer Tony La Russa would seek to replace Towers with Jocketty.

Jocketty served as the general manager for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1995-2007, hiring La Russa as manager in 1996.

Will Manfred consider reinstating Pete Rose?

Jocketty has also taken some criticism in Cincinnati for his inability to add offense to the Reds' lineup the past two seasons and is entering the last year of his contract, leading to speculation he may not be retained.

But according to Rosenthal, Jocketty has no interest in leaving the team and Reds owner Bob Castellini doesn't want to part ways with Jocketty.

Jocketty joined the Reds in 2008 and took over as general manager shortly after that season began. He's led the team to three playoff appearances, but Cincinnati hasn't advanced past the NLDS on any of those occasions.

The Reds entered Saturday in fourth place in the National League Central at 61-68.
