Report: Mariners will release scout involved in Jesus Montero incident
The Seattle Mariners will release Butch Baccala, the scout who bought catcher Jesus Montero ice cream during a minor league game last month, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.
After yelling at Montero to hustle off the field, Baccala reportedly ordered an ice cream sandwich and had it delivered to Montero in the dugout. Montero threw the sandwich at Baccala and had to be restrained from entering the stands with a bat.

Baccala was a national cross-checker for the Mariners. General manager Jack Zduriencik declined comment to Heyman on Baccala's future with the team.
Montero was suspended for the rest of the season following the altercation.
The 24-year-old was acquired from the Yankees for pitcher Michael Pineda in 2012. After playing in 135 games during 2012, he has played in just 35 games over the past two seasons.
