Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker likely out until postseason

Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker is likely out until the postseason, according to MLB.com reporter Alden Gonzalez on Monday night.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia told Gonzalez that he's "very encouraged" about Shoemaker's availability for the playoffs as he continues to rehab an oblique injury. He admitted though that Shoemaker, who turns 28 next week, has a "very remote" chance of pitching this week.
• Padres' Tyson Ross out for season
The news could effectively mean Shoemaker is out until the postseason, as the Angels' regular season ends with a Sept. 28 game in Seattle against the Mariners.
The Angels are currently ahead of the Athletics for first place in the AL West.
Shoe played catch today & Sosh said he's "very encouraged" about postseason availability. But chances of pitching this wk "very remote."
