Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera left Thursday night's Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Los Angeles Angels with an apparent arm injury.
It wasn't immediately clear what happened to Herrera, who replaced Royals starter Jason Vargas in the seventh inning of Thursday night's game with the score tied 2-2. Herrera allowed a leadoff walk to Angels infielder David Freese and was subsequently visited by team trainers. He was shaking his arm at the mound before he departed.
The 24-year-old Herrera had a stellar year for the Royals, with 59 strikeouts in 70 innings and a 1.41 ERA.
