Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez returning next season
Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez will return to the team next season, the team announced Friday.
Atlanta missed the playoffs this season and finished tied for second in the National League East with a 79-83 record, slumping down the stretch winning only seven of their final 25 games.
In four seasons with the Braves, Gonzalez has a 358-290 record. Atlanta won the NL East last season and finished second in Gonzalez’s other seasons with the team. He also managed the Florida (now Miami) Marlins for four seasons.

The Braves also announced they named former Houston Astros manager Bo Porter as their third-base/outfield and baserunning coach. Porter was fired last month after two seasons and a 110-190 record.
The team is still looking for a general manager after Frank Wren was dismissed.
