Royals' Dyson: If K.C. wins Game 3, ALCS won't return to Baltimore

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson is confident in his team returning to the World Series for the first time since 1985 — so confident that he doesn't believe the ALCS will return to Camden Yards for a potential Game 6.

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson said he doesn't believe the ALCS, which Kansas City leads 2-0, will return to Camden Yards for a potential Game 6.

When asked by reporters if he expected the series to return to Baltimore following a workout on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium, Dyson said, "No, sir, I don't. And I don't think [the Orioles] think that either," according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick

The Royals have not played in the World Series since 1985.

Kansas City won the first two games of the series in Baltimore. The Orioles hadn't lost consecutive games at home since June 28-29 against Tampa Bay.

From ESPN:

"I'll just tell you this, man: If we win Game 3, it's going to be hard for them to sit there and look themselves in the mirror and say, 'We can win the next four,' " Dyson said. "That's tough to do, man. Everything must click. I'm just being honest.

"If we take Game 3, I guarantee there are going to be multiple people in that clubhouse over there saying, 'Man, there's no way we're going to beat these guys four games in a row.' It can be done, but everybody ain't gonna be on the same page, I don't think. There are going to be some people ready to go home. There are going to be some people not cheering in the dugout — just like if it was vice versa on this side. It might be the same way."

JAFFE: Orioles, Royals return to historical heights

No team has come back to win a League Championship Series after losing the first two games at home. A team has been down 0-2 11 times since the series moved to a seven-game format in 1985, Crasnick reports.

Dyson doesn't have a hit this postseason in four at-bats. He has mostly been used as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement.

"I don't think [the Orioles] expected us to come over there and play as well as we played," Dyson said. "A lot of people think we're playing on pure luck. But I feel like it's pure determination, belief and will. I feel like these guys really have their minds set and they're hungry for a World Series."

In response to Dyson's comments, Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph said, "I'm not worried about what he says. We've got bigger fish to fry than that. He's probably trying to make it [bother us], but come on."
