Cincinnati Reds trade pitcher Mat Latos to Miami Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds have traded pitcher Mat Latos to the Miami Marlins, the Marlins announced Thursday. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman first reported the deal.
Last season for the Reds, Latos went 5-5 with an ERA of 3.25 and 74 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings.
Latos spent his first three seasons with the San Diego Padres. He was traded to the Reds for starting pitcher Edinson Volquez and three prospects: infielder Yonder Alonso, righthander Brad Boxberger and catcher Yasmani Grandal.

Latos' best season came in 2010, when he had an ERA of 2.92 in 184 2/3 innings and 189 strikeouts. He went 14-10 in 31 starts.
The Reds also reportedly traded starting pitcher Alfredo Simon to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
