Reliever Sergio Romo signs two-year, $15 million deal with Giants
Reliever Sergio Romo has signed a two-year, $15 million deal with the San Francisco Giants, the team announced Monday.
Romo told the team's official site that he was tempted by three-year offers he received from multiple teams but ultimately decided the comfort factor with the Giants was more important than a third year on his contract.
"You want to go to a place where you're happy and excited to go to work every day," said Romo, whose accord with the Giants was leaked last week but didn't become official until Monday.
Said Giants manager Bruce Bochy of Romo: "He's meant so much to our success. He knows all of us; we know him. I can't say enough about how he carried himself this year. I know we made a switch, but he was all about winning."

Romo lost his closer's role to Santiago Casilla after blowing three out of five save opportunities in late June and finished with a 3.72 ERA in 2014, the second-worst mark of his career. But he allowed just two runs over his final 23 games of the year and allowed just one run in seven postseason innings.
The 31-year-old has spent his entire seven-year career with the Giants, record a 2.51 career ERA. He was named an All-Star in 2013 when he had a career-high 38 saves.
In addition to signing Romo, the Giants have reportedly re-signed starting pitcher Jake Peavy and traded for Miami Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee. San Francisco also made a bid for starting pitcher Jon Lester, who ultimately signed with the Chicago Cubs.
