Mookie Betts walk-off single lifts Red Sox over Blue Jays
Boston Red Sox centerfielder Mookie Betts hit a walk-off single to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.
Betts scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and stepped to the plate in the ninth with two runners on base. The first pitch he saw was a wild pitch, and the runners advanced to second and third.
Toronto brought the infield in and Betts took advantage of the fielders' limited range, poking a liner past shortstop Jose Reyes that allowed Xander Bogaerts to score the winning run.
Betts was 3–4 in the game with two runs scored and a walk.
