White Sox option rookie 2B Micah Johnson to Triple A
The Chicago White Soxoptioned second baseman Micah Johnson to Triple A Charlotte on Thursday. A corresponding roster move will be made before Friday's road game against the Oakland Athletics.
Johnson, 24, is ranked as the White Sox's No. 5 prospect by MLB.com. Over 27 games, he batted .270 with eight runs scored, three RBIs and a .631 OPS. He hit two extra-base hits—both doubles—and stole three bases in five attempts.
In the minors, Johnson is a .297 hitter over three seasons with 16 home runs, 127 RBIs and a .787 OPS. He spent 37 games last season at Double A Birmingham before joining Charlotte for 65 and making the White Sox's Opening Day roster this season.

The White Sox (14–17) entered Thursday's off day coming off series wins over th Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. Chicago sits fourth in the NL Central, 5 1/2 games behind the Kansas City Royals.
