San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers will have surgery on his left wrist Thursday and is expected to miss eight weeks, the Padres announced Wednesday.

On Monday, the Padres put Myers on the disabled list with wrist tendonitis. Thursday's surgery will be to remove a bone spur from his left wrist. Myers also missed a month earlier in the season with the same injury. He rejoined the team last Thursday, but played in just three games before landing back on the disabled list.

Myers went 2-for-14 with six strikeouts and no extra-base hits in his return from the injury, playing first base and centerfield.

This season, Myers is batting .277 and is second on the team with a .459 slugging percentage.
