Pirates' Andrew McCutchen leaves game after being hit by pitch
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen left Saturday's game after being hit in the elbow by a pitch from Atlanta's Julio Teheran.
Teheran hit McCutchen in the left elbow during the first inning with a fastball on a 1–1 count. The four-time All-Star outfielder was not wearing protective gear and headed for the dugout, consulting with manager Clint Hurdle and a trainer before being replaced by pinch-runner Jung Ho Kang.
Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports X-rays on McCutchen's elbow came up negative and that he'll be re-evaluated on Sunday.
Nesbitt noted McCutchen, now in his seventh big-league season, has been hit by 48 pitches in his career.
McCutchen is hitting .295 with nine home runs and 44 RBIs in 2015.
