AL beats NL in All-Star Game 6-3
The American League defeated the National League 6–3 in the 2015 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night.
Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who was named MVP, led off the game with a home run off starter Zack Greinke to give the AL an early 1–0 lead. The NL later tied things up on an RBI single by Jhonny Peralta, but back-to-back singles by Prince Fielder and Lorenzo Cain in the top of the fifth gave the AL a 3–1 lead.
A solo home run in the fifth inning by Andrew McCutchen cut the AL's lead to 3–2, but an RBI double by Manny Machado and a sacrifice fly by Prince Fielder made it 5–2 in the sixth.
Brian Dozier homered to center off Mark Melancon in the top of the eighth to give the AL a 6–2 lead, and the NL picked up one last run in the ninth when Ryan Braun tripled and scored on a Brandon Crawford sacrifice fly.
Cain finished the game 2–for–3, the only player to pick up two hits on the night.
Eight different pitchers took the mound for each league, with David Price picking up the win and Clayton Kershaw getting the loss. The Mets' Jacob deGrom and the Reds' Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in their respective innings pitched.
The win gives the American League home field advantage during the 2015 World Series. The AL has now won three All-Star Games in a row.
