DETROIT (AP) Manager Brad Ausmus says the Detroit Tigers are still very much in the race for the postseason - close enough to a wild card that they don't need to be sellers. General manager Dave Dombrowski says the team is still trying to make the playoffs.

With the trade deadline approaching, Detroit's situation might be the most compelling of any team in baseball. The four-time defending champions of the AL Central certainly still have a shot to make the postseason, but the Tigers haven't played well of late, and they have three high-priced players eligible for free agency after this season in David Price, Yoenis Cespedes and Joakim Soria.

Detroit still has over a week to evaluate its options before the July 31 deadline.
