Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant hit his first career walk-off home run to beat the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
The Cubs trailed 8–7 after giving up four runs in the top of the ninth. Jason Motte allowed three runs without recording an out and Rafael Soriano gave up the lead on a solo homer by Carlos Gonzalez.
Bryant stepped to the plate with two outs, Dexter Fowler on base and the Cubs down by one, and took John Axford to deep left centerfield for a two-run shot. It was Bryant’s second career ninth-inning homer and his first walk-off home run.
Bryant was 2 for 5 in the game with three RBIs.
