Mets manager Terry Collins sends touching letter to widowed fan
A Reddit user uploaded a letter that Mets manager Terry Collins wrote to a longtime fan whose husband recently passed away.
“My dad and I watched the Mets together for my whole life,” the user noted. “He died 9 months ago. Somehow, the team found out, and Terry Collins sent this to my mother.”
Collins' heartfelt note comes as the Mets enter the playoff conversation with a 52-48 record for second place in the National League East, just one game behind the Washington Nationals.
“I know Pete was a big Mets fan and will be missed,” Collins wrote in the note. “Hopefully this finds you doing well and looking forward. My condolences and if I can help in any way let me know.”
Collins' father, Loren, died in February and the Mets manager spent most of his off-season tending to his ailing dad.
