LEADING OFF: Tulo likely to stay as leadoff for Blue Jays
A look at what's happening all around the major leagues today:
MILLER VS. PHILLIES: Braves starter Shelby Miller is 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA in three games vs. the Phillies this year and will pitch the opener of a four-game series in Philadelphia. He faces Aaron Harang (4-11, 4.08 ERA), who is 0-8 with a 6.15 ERA in nine starts since May 14.
MIAMI FAREWELL? Dan Haren (7-6, 3.51) starts against Washington in what could be his final appearance for the Marlins, who may trade him before Friday's deadline to make deals without waivers. Haren is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in five starts in July.
TORONTO'S NEW LEADOFF HITTER: Troy Tulowitzki came into his first game with Toronto Wednesday with five big league at-bats as a leadoff hitter. Put atop the batting order, he hit went 3 for 5 with a two-run homer, two doubles and three RBIs in an 8-2 win over Philadelphia.
HOLLIDAY UPDATE: The St. Louis Cardinals say more information will be available Thursday on outfielder Matt Holliday, who left Wednesday night's game against Cincinnati Reds with a right quadriceps strain after pulling up while running to first base. Holliday was sidelined from June 8 to July 17 with a similar injury.
