Watch: Jimmy Rollins gets standing ovation in return to Philadelphia

Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins returned to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and was given a standing ovation by fans.

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins returned to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday night for the first time since the Phillies traded him to Los Angeles.

Rollins was greeted with a standing ovation by the Philadelphia crowd for his first at-bat, which led off the game. The cheers included clapping from Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, a former long-time teammate of Rollins. The shortstop tipped his hat to the crowd in gratitude before stepping into the box. 

The Phillies traded Rollins last December after 15 years with the team. Rollins was a three-time All-Star and the 2007 NL MVP while in Philadelphia and helped the team win the 2008 World Series.

The 36-year-old Rollins stuck out in his first at bat against his former team but would later hit a ground rule double in the third inning.

For his third at-bat, the Phillies used a Little League photo of Rollins in lieu of his player headshot.
