Watch: David Wright hits home run in first at-bat since coming off DL
New York Mets third baseman David Wright missed the past 115 games with a back injury and announced his return from the disabled list with authority on Monday night.
Wright was activated from the disabled list before the game against the Philadelphia Phillies and inserted into the cleanup spot in the lineup. In his first major-league at-bat since April, the veteran smashed a long home run to deep leftfield.
After the Mets went down 3–0 in the first inning, Wright led off the second with a homer to help cut into the deficit.
The ball left the bat at 108 mph and traveled 428 feet, according to MLB’s Statcast data.
Wright has now hit 20 career home runs at Citizens Bank Park, the most of any visiting player.
