Angels activate third baseman David Freese from disabled list
Third baseman David Freese was activated from the disabled list and rejoined the Angels on Tuesday.
Freese, 32, missed more than a month with a non-displaced fracture in his right index finger after being hit by a pitch July 22. He started Tuesday's game against Oakland batting seventh and playing third.
Freese has hit .240 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs in 91 games this season. He was the 2011 World Series MVP as a member of the Cardinals and could provide post-season experience if Los Angels can leapfrog Texas, Minnesota and Tampa Bay to squeak into October.
Entering Tuesday's game, the Angels were 65-66, 3 1/2 games behind the Rangers for the final American league Wild Card spot.
Los Angeles also activated outfielders Collin Cowgill and Matt Joyce from the disabled list.
