Watch: Mets' Bartolo Colon beats runner with behind-the-back toss
Bartolo Colon never ceases to surprise, even at age 42.
Bartolo Colon never ceases to surprise, even at age 42.
The Mets' veteran pitcher completed yet another remarkable athletic feat during Saturday's game against the Marlins, this one a miraculous, behind-the-back, on-the-run toss that somehow beat Justin Bour to first to complete the sixth inning.
Bour hit a a dribbler directly down the first base line, which the surprisingly spry Colon had no trouble getting to. In one motion, he then lobbed an arcing eephus of a throw to first, and the rest was history.
Not to bury the lede too much, but Colon, the ageless wonder, also threw a complete-game shutout for his 13th win of the season. You can watch the play below.
