The St. Louis Cardinals have activated first baseman Matt Adams from the 60-day disabled list, the team announced Wednesday.
Adams sustained a right quadriceps tear in May and underwent surgery, with the recovery expected to take three to four months. Adams was batting .243 with four home runs and 20 RBIs before the injury.
St. Louis has the best record in baseball at 87–51, with the Cardinals currently holding a 4 1/2-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the NL Central.
