Report: Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira says he will play again this season
New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says he will play again this year, according to a report by the New York Post's Joel Sherman.
The report added, however, that the five-time Gold Glover says he still has pain when he walks.
The Yankees placed Teixeira on the disabled list on Sept. 4 with a right shin bone bruise, which was retroactive to Aug. 27. He went on crutches because of the injury, and received two injections on Sept. 8 to calm nerve issues.
Teixeira has not appeared in a game for the Yankees since Aug. 26. He was originally sidelined for a week with the injury after fouling a ball off his leg during New York's Aug. 17 game against the Minnesota Twins.
Teixeira has hit .255 with 31 home runs and 79 RBIs in 111 games this season.
