Former four-time MLB All-Star Rafael Palmeiro signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League Thursday in order to play with his son Patrick, according to FOXsports.com.

Palmeiro, 50, plans to play for the rest of the Atlantic League season, which ends Sunday.

Palmeiro played for the Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs during his 20-year career. His 569 career home runs place him 12th on the all-time list. However, his career was tarnished by a positive steroid test in 2005. He had previously testified before congress that he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs.

Patrick Palmeiro, 25, played at the rookie and A levels in the Chicago White Sox minor league system before being released and signing with the Skeeters in 2015.
