In 18 NFL seasons, Oakland Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson had never intercepted Peyton Manning.
That changed Sunday.
Woodson, who had dropped into zone coverage on a 3rd-and-5 late in the first half, ranged over to his left to intercept the 39-year-old Manning in the end zone. Manning was looking for tight end Owen Daniels.
The pick prevented the Broncos from erasing a 7–3 deficit before entering halftime.
Woodson narrowly beat Manning to win the Heisman Trophy in 1997.
In the second half, he picked him off for a second time.
