Report: Dave Martinez to interview for Dodgers' manager job
Chicago Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez will be interviewed for Los Angeles Dodgers managerial job, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
The Dodgers are looking to replace Don Mattingly after the two sides mutually parted ways after the team’s loss to the New York Mets in this year’s NLDS.
Martinez, 51, has spent seven years working with Cubs manager Joe Maddon as a coach with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2008 to 2014 and 2015 with the Chicago.
“He’s definitely ready to manage,” Maddon told reporters during playoffs. “He understands the numbers; he understands people and tough conversations. He’s really good at tough conversations. He really understands pitching.”

Martinez previously interviewed for managerial jobs with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2010, the Chicago White Sox in 2011, the Houston Astros in 2012 and the Cubs and Washington Nationals in 2013.
The Dodgers are considering Bud Black, Darin Erstad, Bob Geren, Kirk Gibson, Gabe Kapler, Dave Roberts, Ron Roenicke and Tim Wallach for their managerial opening.
Mattingly was hired as the Miami Marlins manager and was introduced on Monday.
