Report: Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes arrested for domestic abuse
Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes was arrested on Oct. 31 in Hawaii on domestic abuse charges, Hawaii News Now reports.
Reyes is reportedly accused of grabbing his wife and shoving her into a sliding glass door at a hotel in Maui and was arrested on charges of “abuse of a family or household member.” Reyes was tweeting photos from Hawaii in the days leading up to the alleged incident.
Reyes, 32, was acquired by the Rockies in July as part of the trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to the Blue Jays. He has two years left on his current contract, plus a team option for a third year.
On early Tuesday morning Eastern Time, the Rockies released an official statement on Reyes:
MLB announced a domestic violence policy in August that grants the commissioner the ability to determine the severity of any punishment.
