Blue Jays trade Liam Hendriks to Athletics for Jesse Chavez

Toronto Blue Jays have acquired pitcher Jesse Chavez from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for pitcher Liam Hendriks, the team announced.
The deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Chavez, 32, will be a free agent after the 2016 season. He finished last season with a 4.16 ERA after making 25 starts and pitching 157 innings. He could split time between the bullpen as a long reliever or see time in the Blue Jays rotation that already includes Marco Estrada, Marcus Stroman, R.A. Dickey and Drew Hutchison.
