The Kansas City Royals have signed outfielder Lorenzo Cain to a two-year extension worth $17.5 million, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.
The deal covers Cain’s final two years of arbitration eligibility, and will make him a free agent following the 2017 season. As Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan notes, this means Cain, who was seeking a long-term deal this off-season, will likely leave after this contract expires.
