Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes has been suspended through May 31, Major League Baseball announced on Friday. Reyes, who will not appeal his suspension, can begin a minor-league rehab assignment June 1.

Reyes, 32, was arrested in Hawaii in October for allegedly grabbing his wife and shoving her into a sliding glass door at a hotel in Maui. The charges were eventually dropped.

MLB’s domestic violence policy allows the commissioner to place a player on paid suspension pending the resolution of a criminal proceeding. Reyes was put on paid leave from the Rockies on Feb. 23, but per the terms of the suspension, he will instead return the money he has been paid and will not collect a salary for its duration, thus losing $7.02 million. Reyes will also be required to contribute $100,000 to charity focused on domestic violence, according to MLB.

In a statement, Reyes apologized to the Rockies, his teammates, fans and his family “for everything that has happened.” “I am happy to put this all in the past and get back to doing what I love most, playing baseball,” Reyes’s statement read. Rockies owner Dick Monfort said last month that Reyes should be disciplined if he “did something wrong” regarding an alleged domestic violence altercation, according to the Associated Press.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, multiple teams are interested in trading for Reyes. The Rockies currently have rookie Trevor Story starting at shortstop.

Reyes, who was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays last summer in a trade for Troy Tulowitzki, is in the fifth season of a six-year, $102 million free-agent contract he signed in 2012 with the Miami Marlins. Reyes still has one year left on his deal at $22 million plus a $22 million team option for 2018 that has a $4 million buyout.
