New York Yankees pitcher Aroldis Chapman made his first MLB appearance on Monday since receiving his 30-game suspension.

After striking out the first two batters of the ninth inning in a contest against the Kansas City Royals, Chapman gave up two straight hits and one earned run. He and the Yankees escaped, however, as Chapman induced a ground ball to give New York the 6–3 victory.

Chapman received his suspension for violating the league’s new domestic violence policy. He was investigated by the league for allegedly choking his girlfriend and firing eight gunshots after an argument. Chapman’s case was eventually closed when it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to charge him.

The Yankees acquired Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds in late December.
