Angels place Geovany Soto on disabled list with torn meniscus

The Los Angeles Angels placed catcher Geovany Soto on the 15-day disabled list with a torn right meniscus, the team announced.
Soto will undergo surgery and is expected to miss four to six weeks with rehab. He could return to the team as early as June.
The catcher was hitting .283 with three home runs and seven RBIs in 20 games. He hit nine home runs and 21 RBIs in 78 games with the Chicago White Sox last year.

The team has called up Jett Bandy to replace Soto as the back-up catcher.
