Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn right ACL, the team announced Thursday.
Moustakas’s stint on the DL is retroactive to May 23. He will likely miss the rest of the season.
The Royals have recalled outfielder Brett Eibner from Triple-A Omaha to replace Moustakas on the 25-man roster.
Moustakas suffered the injury after colliding with outfielder Alex Gordon during Sunday’s game against the White Sox.
He hit .240 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs in 27 games this season.
