The Toronto Blue Jays have placed infielder Troy Tulowitzki on the 15–day disabled list with a right quadriceps strain, the team announced Saturday.
Tulowitzki did not play Wednesday or Thursday of this week because of the injury, but he did play on Friday, going 0–4 at the plate. On Saturday, the team said he was out of the lineup for the team’s matinee against the Red Sox, before later announcing Tulowitzki was heading to the DL.
Tulowitzki is batting .204 this season, currently the lowest season average of his career. In 46 games, the five–time All–Star has hit eight home runs and 23 RBIs.
Entering Saturday’s game, the Jays are 25–25, good for third place in the AL East behind the Red Sox and Orioles.
