The Minnesota Twins will place Danny Santana on the disabled list and recall Byron Buxton, the team announced Monday.

Santana, who has a strained left hamstring, will head to the disabled list for the second time this season. Buxton, the team’s top prospect, will replace Santana on the roster from Triple A Rochester.

Santana, 25, is batting .258 with one home run and 10 RBIs in 34 appearances this season. The 22-year-old Buxton has made 63 MLB appearances over two seasons, and has batted just .156 with two RBIs during that stretch. He is batting .333 in Triple A this year.
