The Blue Jays have placed outfielder Jose Bautista on the 15-day DL with a sprained toe, the team announced on Friday.
Bautista injured his left big toe on Thursday when he ran into the wall trying to catch a flyball in a game against the Phillies. He was removed from the game, and seen sporting a walking boot the next day.
“It's frustrating,” he said, according to the Associated Press. “I've put in a lot of hard work, dedication and effort into being healthy, and this sort of stuff happens. It can only happen by playing aggressively, and that's the type of player I am.”

Bautista is batting .230 with 12 homers and 41 RBIs this season. Toronto recalled outfielder Darrell Ceciliani from Triple A in a corresponding move.
