Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez made an incredible leaping catch during the seventh inning of Sunday’s Futures Game.
Jinenez, manning rightfield for the World team, ranged to his left for a flyball and covered a ton of ground. He stopped by the railing in deep right, jumped high, and made the catch. On the landing, he then came crashing down on the wall, falling out of play. He lost his sunglasses, but not the ball.
Jimenez, 19, was signed as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2013. He’s hitting .332 this season in A ball with 10 home runs and 58 RBIs in 313 at bats.
