Reports: A’s sending Rich Hill, Josh Reddick to Dodgers
The A’s have agreed to trade outfielder Josh Reddick and lefthander Rich Hill to the Dodgers in exchange for Frankie Montas, Grant Holmes and Jharel Cotton, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports.
Reddick and Hill each have one year remaining on their contracts, and will help Los Angeles fill voids left by injury. The Dodgers’ rotation is in shambles with Clayton Kershaw, Brandon McCarthy and Hyun-Jin Ryu ailing, and Bud Norris exiting his most recent start with back tightness. Their outfield is also depleted, with Andre Ethier on the shelf for an extended period of time, and Trayce Thompson and Joc Pederson struggling.
Holmes and Cotton are Nos. 6 and 9, respectively, on Baseball America’s ranking of the Dodgers’ top 10 prospects.
Montas, a 23-year-old righthander reliever, was acquired by the Dodgers along with Trayce Thompson in the Todd Frazier deal last year. He’s spent time in Double A and Triple A this year, posting a combined 2.25 ERA in 16 innings.
