Rangers acquire Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy
The Rangers have won the sweepstakes for Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
The Brewers have traded catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Rangers, the teams announced Monday.
Texas also acquired relief pitcher Jeremy Jeffress.
The Brewers add outfielder Lewis Brinson and pitcher Luis Ortiz, the Rangers’ No. 2 and No. 3 prospects, in the trade.
Lucroy was rumored to be on the move all weekend, with the Mets and Tigers emerging as potential suitors after the backstop exercised his no-trade clause to avoid going to the Indians.
Lucroy’s contract has a $5.25 million team option for next season. He is batting .299 with a 122 OPS+ this season and was named to his second All-Star team this year.
Earlier Monday, the Rangers acquired Carlos Beltran from the Yankees.
