The Mets moved into a tie for second place in the NL East thanks to Puig’s clutch home run.
Yoenis Cespedes hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th to give the Mets a 2–1 win over the Marlins on Monday.
The Mets and Marlins played seven scoreless innings Monday night before each team scored a run in the eighth. The game headed to extras deadlocked at one, but Cespedes sent everyone home with a long ball off Nick Wittgren, Cespedes’s 27th dinger of the season.

The win put the Mets in a tie with the Marlins for second place in the NL East. Both teams are 2 1/2 games back for the NL’s second wild-card spot.
