Blue Jays will not sell canned beer for remainder of playoffs
The Blue Jays are taking precautionary measures after an ugly incident last week.
The Blue Jays will not serve beer in cans for the remainder of the playoffs and will instead pour it into cups, the team announced Sunday.
The changes to the Rogers Centre alcohol policy come after a fan threw a beer can at Orioles outfielder Hyun-soo Kim last week.
The incident occurred in the seventh inning of the AL Wild Card game on Wednesday. Toronto police identified the fan as Ken Pagan, a 41-year-old copy editor for Postmedia, and he was charged with mischief after turning himself in.
Pagan hinted in an interview with The Toronto Sun on that authorities may have identified the wrong person.
“I was drinking out of a cup,” said Pagan. “I’d love to tell you what happened and my story ... but I can’t say anything.”
