Cubs pitcher Travis Wood homers in NLDS Game 2
Travis Wood added to his legend on Saturday.
Cubs pitcher Travis Wood went yard in the fourth inning of NLDS Game 2 against the Giants on Saturday night.
Wood, who had just come on in relief of the injured Kyle Hendricks in the top half of the inning, smacked a ball out to rightfield off George Kontos with the bases empty and one out. The ball left his bat at 101 mph according to MLB’s Statcast, and traveled a distance of 393 feet.

It gave the Cubs a 5–2 lead, one they would not relinquish as they went on to take a 2–0 series lead.
Wood has proved to be a pretty capable ballplayer for a pitcher, playing the outfield earlier this season and robbing an extra-base hit.
It was his 10th career home run, and first postseason hit in five at bats.
