The New York Yankees have reportedly signed closer Aroldis Chapman to a five-year deal worth $86 million, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Chapman pitched in 31 games for the Yankees last season before he was traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for four prospects including Gleyber Torres. Chapman finished last season with 36 saves, a 1.86 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched. He was one of the biggest contributors to the Cubs' World Series run as he pitched 15 2/3 innings in the playoffs and struck out 21 batters while allowing just six runs and a few inherited runners to score.

"I love the (Yankees) organization. They welcomed me with open arms and that's why I decided to go back, I was hoping I had a chance to go back and it happened.” Chapman tells ESPN's Marly Rivera. "Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don't it's because they never got the chance.”

Dellin Betances is expected to move back to his setup role after recording 12 saves for the Yankees last season.

The Cubs plan on using Wade Davis as the team's closer after trading outfielder Jorge Soler to Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon.

Chapman's new contract includes a no-trade clause for three years and he can not be traded to a team located in California, according to Rivera.

The deal eclipses Mark Melancon's recent signing with the San Francisco Giants for four years and $62 million, which is believed to be a record for a reliever.

The Miami Marlins were also reportedly interested in Chapman but are expected to now focus their attention on bolstering their bullpen with Kenley Jansen.

Earlier in the week, the Yankees added Matt Holliday as a possible designated hitter for the team's line up.
