Yankees ALDS Roster, Pitching Rotation, Projected Game 1 Lineup vs. Indians
The Yankees face a tough task in the ALDS against the American League-best Indians.
New York beat the Twins in a thrilling AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday, behind a patchwork pitching approach after starter Luis Severino recorded only a single out. Chad Green, David Robertson, Tommy Kahnle and Aroldis Chapman allowed just one run in 8 2/3 innings of work as the Yankees won 8–4 behind home runs from Didi Gregorius, Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge.
Game 1 against the Indians is Thursday night in Cleveland, with Sonny Gray facing Trevor Bauer. The Yankees will need to get some length out of Gray after using their top relievers to survive in Tuesday’s do-or-die. Robertson threw a career-high 3 1/3 innings and 52 pitches, and Green and Kahnle also went multiple innings. Manager Joe Girardi said all three are unlikely to be available in Game 1 but should be fine after that. Girardi expects to be able to use Adam Warren and Dellin Betances, who did not pitch Tuesday, for two innings apiece in Game 1.
